Zeus is tallest hound

A Great Dane from the U.S has been recognised as the world's tallest dog.

The Guinness World Records 2013 book, published today, awards the title to Zeus of Otsego, Michigan, who measures 44 inches from foot to shoulder.

Standing on his hind legs, three-year-old Zeus stretches to 7ft 4ins and towers over his owner, Denise Doorlag.

Zeus is just an inch taller than the previous record-holder, Giant George.

Zeus weighs 155lbs and eats around 12 cups of food a day. That's equivalent to one 30lb bag of food.

Mrs Doorlag said she had to buy a van to be able to transport Zeus.
