Christopher Jackson, 53, had received multiple stab wounds.
Anthony Locke (aged 35) of no fixed abode is accused of cleaning up the murder scene and concealing the body in a wardrobe using plastic and sellotape.
His brother, 39-year-old Bernard Locke of Prussia Street, has been charged with Mr Jackson's murder.
Detective Garda Denis Ellard told the court today that gardaí objected to bail because they believe Mr Locke is a flight risk and because of concerns about possible witness intimidation.
He also said more serious charges may be brought, pending the outcome of technical examinations.
Mr Locke was remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on September 18.
