Farmers to protest against growing of GM potatoes

A protest will be held in Dublin later against the decision by Teagasc to plant genetically modified potatoes in Carlow.

The demonstration is taking place in the form of a "funeral procession".

Environmental groups, farmers and organic food workers will present a spade to the Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney, asking him to remove GM potatoes from Irish soil.
