Ward father pays tribute to son at funeral

The funeral Mass has taken place today of eight-year-old Anthony Ward in Charleville, Co Cork.

The eight-year old was found dead in his bedroom at his home at Harrison Place on Monday morning.

His mother, Diane Ward (aged 43) has been charged with his murder.

Hundreds of mourners paid their final respects to the much-loved boy, including many of his school friends, who formed a guard of honour outside the Holy Cross Church.

Mourners were told of Anthony's love for taekwondo and horses, as his father Mark described to the packed church.



Anthony's uncle Tom gave an emotional account of a recent rafting trip with his nephew - and his love of life.



Anthony has made his final journey to Holy Cross Cemetery, where he has been laid to rest.
