It comes as both Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin prepare to table a motion of no confidence in Dr Reilly.
Labour Chairman Colm Keaveney and backbencher Aodhan O'Riordan say they will support the minister when the motion is voted on.
Dublin TD O'Riordan says a vote of no confidence in Dr Reilly would not protect services.
"I'd have no difficulty in voting confidence in James Reilly. He is the minister in charge and understands the brief.
"By playing the man, Fianna Fáil might get some headlines for themselves but what we want to do is protect people who are in receipt of these services. That's the most important thing."
