Obama rallys troops in Texas

Barack Obama has been rallying American troops in Texas, exactly two years after he promised to end the Iraq war.

Speaking at Fort Bliss in El Paso, the President has thanked servicemen for their hard work.

As Mr Obama's battle for the White House with Mitt Romney hots up, he has taken a break from the official campaign trail.

He has reminded the troops he kept his promise on Iraq - and praised their dedication:

"In every major phase of that war you were there, the iron soldiers, American troops toppled a dictator in less than a month, you turned back an insurgency"
