Eurozone jobless figures hit 18 million

Jobless figures across the eurozone hit a record 18 million people in July.

A total of 88,000 people became unemployed last month. It is the highest figure recorded since records began in 1995.

However the total unemployment rate remains unchanged at 11.3%.

Eurostat said an estimated 25 million people are now unemployed across the whole of the European Union.

Spain still has the highest unemployment rate in the Eurozone at 21.5%. Austria's 4.5% jobless figure is the lowest.
