Cork couple arrested following €6m drug seizure on yacht

A Cork couple have been arrested along with another Irishman by Spanish police, following the seizure of €6m worth of drugs on board an Irish yacht.

The man, who is in his 50s and from the southside of Cork city and the woman who is also in her 50s and from Carrigaline, were arrested yesterday.

They were detained along with another Irishman when Spanish police boarded the Irish-registered yacht off the Spanish coast around 3.30pm.

Spanish police found 500 kilos of cannabis with an estimated street value of €6m on board the vessel, which they believe originated in Morocco.

All three have been arrested and are being questioned by Spanish police who are liaising with Gardaí in relation to the three suspects.
